UPDATE: Police deem Bayswater package "not suspicious".Victoria Police statement:"At about 2.30am patrolling police spotted a parked Toyota Echo which was displaying stolen number plates on the Mountain Highway.A man and a woman were initially seen with the vehicle however both had left the scene when police arrived to investigate.Police discovered what they believed to be a suspicious device in the vehicle.The Bomb Response Unit was contacted and conducted a controlled explosion on the suspected device just after 7am.It has now been determined that no explosive material has been found and the package is no longer being treated as suspicious and the scene is being cleared.Police located the 21-year-old Bayswater female passenger of the car and she is currently assisting police with enquiries relating to theft related matters.The male driver is still is outstanding.The road closures have been lifted.The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000."EARLIER — Bayswater: Victoria police bomb squad has carried out a controlled explosion after a pipe bomb was found inside a stolen Toyota Echo that was located outside the National Australia Bank on the Mountain Highway.
